Spider-Man Drink Coasters
thingiverse
Standard size coaster of Spider-Man's face features art traced from Todd McFarlane's iconic 1990 comic book issue, Spider-Man #1. Three distinct designs emerged during drafting, showcasing various stages of the drawing process. One captures just his piercing eyes, another focuses on his entire face, and the final, most complete design depicts his face along with part of his upper body. Enjoy this thrilling print! Print Settings: Printer: Chinese Prusia i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 50 Notes: High infill was used to achieve weight, as the object is not tall and resolution isn't crucial in this case. Ensure top and bottom layers are thick (0.8 mm) for a smooth, opaque surface. Post-Printing: Painting with Plasti-Dip is recommended due to PLA's slippery nature. The durable, grippy rubber surface helps hide print lines and errors. Sanding before applying Plasti-Dip results in a very smooth finish. Freshly Printed: The coaster boasts a fresh coat of black Plasti-Dip, paired with cookie cutters for added visual interest. Design Process: I crafted the design in Solidworks by first drafting a simple coaster. Then, using the "Sketch Picture" tool, I imported Todd McFarlane's Spider-Man #1 cover and traced over relevant parts using mostly splines.
