Sphinx in Buenos Aires, Argentina

myminifactory

This colossal sculpture captures a Sphinx, a fusion of human and feline forms; unlike most Egyptian sphinxes that are inherently male, this South American version boasts a feminine presence, reminiscent of those crafted in Greece. The head appears to be quintessentially Egyptian while the body embodies Greek characteristics. Its exact date of creation remains unknown, as it is carved from granite and now proudly stands on permanent display at a public park in Buenos Aires. A total of 56 photographs were taken by Mercedes in Argentina to meticulously scan this monumental piece. This remarkable object is part of "Scan The World," a groundbreaking initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, which aims to build a digital repository of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access at no cost. Scan The World is an open-source community effort, inviting anyone with intriguing items nearby to contribute; if interested in joining forces, simply email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can participate.
