Sphinx Fan shroud for Bulldog XL extruder
youmagine
My Bulldog XL is rigged up as a direct drive and functions perfectly, but my lack of cooling was severely hindering my capacity to bridge gaps and work on small areas without warping the layers underneath. It was a real problem. The fan I mounted was blocked by the print head and anything behind it would still be too soft by the next layer. I designed this shroud to split the air and direct it behind the print head. It features internal baffles and geometry that cause the air to angle down under the head, cooling the plastic without chilling the nozzle. It also diverts some of the air that would come straight out the front to the back for even airflow. Prints in one piece with no support or gaps to bridge, a very straightforward print. Holes are undersized so you can drill them out to a size your hardware will thread into. No nuts needed if you do it right. Lightweight, nice clearance and it kinda looks like the Sphinx, which is kind of cool. A mounting plate for the Bulldog is included. You will have to adjust it because the Bulldog feeds slightly to one side. Or redesign the mount as you see fit. 32mm on center, 2mm holes.
