Spherical Harmonic Christmas Sphere
thingiverse
A spherical object exhibiting extra radial distortion is depicted by SphericalHarmonics; specifically, the file "out.stl" features l=15, m=2 deformation. To create such shapes, a C++ program is being developed. The Spherical Harmonics also solve Schrödinger's Equation for non-radial parts, representing vibrating nuclear cores or visualizations of excited hydrogen atoms. Further information can be found on Wikipedia or Wolfram MathWorld, but printing may require support due to the structure. A downloadable Windows program called "Sphericalator" is available on GitHub, while a Qt version greater than 4.7 can also be self-compiled.
