Sphere2Ring Script
thingiverse
Using the parametric Sphere Cutter script, create jewelry accessories including rings and bracelets from basic sphere shapes. Gem inserts are available. This process resembles "Ring a Thing" (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:13902). Open the script with OpenScad, adjust parameters, and view results. Choose from three styles for cutting side walls of the sphere - using another sphere or a flat plain, with specific x-values determining upper and lower half thickness or a central cone defined by distance from object center and cone's angle. Examples include sphere ring with a gem insert (green gem), bracelet, and flat ring with a gem insert (white gem). Still searching for the best gem gluing method; previous attempts included melting PLA with a hot knife and using universal glue.
