Dr Iskandar's clay diary entries reveal a deep appreciation for the functional versatility of the bowl, yet he also highlights its status as "an article of visual pleasure". His exploration of the aesthetic experience is evident in his deliberate incorporation of elements that spark surprise and discovery, creating dynamic tensions through opposing impulses. The exterior of Sphere boasts a minimalist aesthetic, with a plain body adorned by sparse geometric 'strips' and a matte finish. In stark contrast, its interior is lavishly embellished with organic patterns of swirls and spirals, boasting a glossy finish. A strip that runs through both the interior and exterior unites these divergent facets, visible from an aerial perspective. This robust bowl showcases a cylindrical form, adorned with resist methods, and features a notable innovation: Dr Iskandar's use of baby talcum powder as a flux, resulting in the translucent, glossy effects within the interior.
