A small construction out of boredom :) The outline of my hometown Speyer with the caption "Speyer". Speyer (also known as Speier until 1825) is a district-free city in Rhineland-Palatinate and part of the metropolitan region of Rhine-Neckar. As a Roman foundation, then Noviomagus or Civitas Nemetum (capital of the Nemeter tribe), it's one of the oldest cities in Germany and was known as Spira around 600 AD, center of the Speyer district. In the Middle Ages, Speyer was a free imperial city, one of the most important cities of the Holy Roman Empire. Between 1816 and 1945, it was the seat of Bavarian administration of the Palatinate, today Speyer belongs to Rhineland-Palatinate and has 50,378 residents (as of 2018). Speyer is widely known for its Emperor's Cathedral and St. Mary's Church. It is the world's largest remaining Romanesque church still intact and was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1981.
