Spent Primer Tube Bottle Cap and Clamp
prusaprinters

I designed these to work with the 7/16" OD vinyl tubing that comes with the Hornady Lock-N-Load AP reloading press.

After raiding our bathroom travel basket, I found a container that I thought would work perfectly for spent primers. It seems to be a fairly standard bottle which can be found at many stores in the travel toiletry aisle - it's about 118mm tall and 38mm OD, top OD at opening is 21.5mm, thread OD is 23.5mm, and thread pitch is about 3mm. If you have any bottle with a similar sized opening/thread it will probably work.

This is actually my initial top design - I went through a few other iterations which used a threaded collet on top to tighten down around the tube, but they were unnecessarily complex, more difficult to print, and didn't work as well to secure the tubing. On this design, you just thread the hose down into the internal threads on the cap opening. I opted to not go with a standard hose barb because I wanted the reduce the risk of primer jams in the tubing - the thread on the cap grips the hose very well.

The clamp which secures the tube to the press' brass primer drop tube uses a standard #4 machine screw and nut - make sure to orient it so that it does not interfere with press operation.

Print instructions

Print cap with the external top on the build plate.
