The DX5R Spektrum transmitter is an attractive device, but it has two major drawbacks when it comes to batteries:\r\n\r\n1) It only comes with a AA battery compartment, and switching to LiPo requires a pricey upgrade. However, this results in the transmitter failing to shut off properly when the voltage exceeds 8.0V.\r\n\r\n2) To replace the batteries, you must open the battery compartment, which is complicated by screws that wear out quickly.\r\n\r\nTo address these issues (upgrading to a custom LiPo battery and charging it in the transmitter), I designed a custom battery cover that allows for adding a round switch (on/off/charging) as well as a female balancer connector.
