SpeedDrive Remix - Ender 3 direct drive mount for BMG & Pancake Stepper
thingiverse
I made a remix for the SpeedDrive V1.0, a fantastic direct drive setup for my Ender3. One limitation of SashAlex007's design is that the motor only fits between the rails, resulting in losing about 10% of valuable real estate on the build plate. This iteration gains approximately 22mm of space between the mount and the rails, allowing me to fit a pancake stepper between the mount and the rail. This results in regaining all of the original build plate. I use this pancake stepper (I can't guarantee any other will fit - but there are plenty of options available): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PNEQ79Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you use a pancake stepper, however, you won't have enough torque with a stock extruder. You will need a geared extruder to push the filament due to the smaller motor size. I use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RBL4CJC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Overall, this setup may just be the most light weight / well balanced option for direct drive. I include cable management at the top of my design, which is intended to hold your cables via zip tie. I also suggest printing an x-cap cable management, which I use: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3881061 This design fits the HeroMe duct without issue. However, I haven't used it with another mount. The HeroMe can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3182917
