speed tank drive gear traxxas 32p pinion

Human: I've managed to rig up a makeshift printed drive gear bolted directly to the wheel, making it super easy to swap out if it gets stripped. Finding M1 gears with a 3mm motor shaft has proven to be extremely challenging in the USA. The gear pitch I'm using is based on Traxxas Summit's 1/10 gear ratio of 68t, and it still needs some fine-tuning. Updates will follow soon. Update: After searching high and low, I finally found a suitable replacement - 20t motors paired with an 18-tooth pinion. However, these tend to smoke the motor if not handled carefully. In snowy conditions, be cautious as the wheels can clog up with ice, causing the motor to overheat. I've discovered that using a gear ratio of 55t motor and 11t or less works just fine. Considering my current setup, finding an even lower tooth pinion, such as 10t or 9t, might be worth exploring. My 3D printed gear has held up reasonably well so far, but I've still installed a Traxxas gear as a backup. A shim is required to bolt the Traxxas gear to the drive wheel, and it needs to be modified by drilling it in place. If you decide to use a Traxxas gear, don't forget to install the shim.
