The Extreme Redesign Challenge proposes a novel solution for speed bumps' irritating issue. The innovative design incorporates a radar system that detects when cars are moving under a specific speed threshold, like 15 miles per hour. If the car is going slower than the set speed, the radar retracts the speed bump, avoiding the inconvenience of passing over it while sipping coffee. However, if the car's speed is not within the desired range, the speed bump remains extended, ensuring a slow-down. This design addresses concerns about drivers swerving off the road or into other lanes to avoid speed bumps, an action that endangers lives and property. By eliminating unnecessary annoyances while maintaining traffic control, this new speed bump design enhances safety for all road users.
