Due to rapid growth in construction, power, telecom, and solar energy sectors, the production of Cold Roll Forming structures like C-Section, Lip channel, Sigma Profile, etc., has increased, leading to higher costs. Factors contributing to these rising costs include raw material costs, transportation expenses, and manufacturing prices. To address this issue, my objective in designing a flexible Special Purpose Machine (SPM) is to reduce manufacturing costs, operational costs, labor charges, and material handling expenses. In my 3.5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, I have designed various piercing, slug cut-off, parting, and notching tools for different profiles based on available presses and their tonnage. However, requiring separate presses with mounted tools for each operation increases costs. By automating this SPM, we can minimize these expenses. The fully automated system consists of movable stations that can be easily adjusted to desired locations depending on commands from the input station, reducing operational, material handling, and manpower costs.
