Special Delivery/Rear Eject Bomb Rocket
thingiverse
This is another Mini Rear Eject Bomb rocket. It looks like a real bomb, and you can build it without painting if you use the enclosed image printed on decal stock. Build Notes: 1) Print the fins upside down, with the screw portion facing up. Then print the nose cone with support for the middle section. 2) Feed 9BBs into the slots in the nose and drizzle epoxy down to hold them in place for weight. 3) Thread kevlar line through the hole in the middle of the nose cone and snag it through one of the slots. Tie a knot in it, cover the knot in epoxy, and pull the knot back through the slot so it rests on the other side of the hole. 4) The body tube is a BT-60. Use 100mm, which matches the height of the decal perfectly. 5) The inner tube is a BT-50. With the rocket dry fitted together, insert this tube through the tail assembly and into the nose cone, then make a mark at the end of the tail so you know where to cut it. 6) Use a BT-5 for the motor tube, as always. I used about 50-60mm of this. Remember that the chute rests alongside this tube, so don't use too little. 7) Speaking of chute, I used about a 6" or so chute, cut from an old Estes 12" chute I had lying around. 8) The shock cord runs through the center of the rocket. Tie it around the motor tube then make a loop at the end for the chute to attach to. You can see how I did this in the photo. 9) Print the tube wrap on label stock and wrap it around the 100mm of BT-60. Apply several coats of clear coat to this before you assemble the rocket. 10) Print the nose, fins, and retainer in black. Print the motor pod parts in any color you want. The rocket is a little tricky to load, but it's real fun to launch. I wouldn't use anything smaller than an A3-4T with it, but it flew fine for me on that.
