This is the design plan for a foam board flying wing that meets the FPVWRA spec wing category if built with an approved motor and prop. https://fpvwra.net/spec-wing-courses-2/ The motor mount is 3D printed. I have included motor shims to be used as needed to compensate for different length motor screws. The shims can also be used with long motor bolts to move the motor back, helping with a nose-heavy build. I have also included a few different vent covers to be used as needed. The ram vent can be printed without support if rotated 90 degrees, with the front opening on the print bed. On my builds, I simply cram all the electronics into the wing through a hatch cut in the top. It has been suggested that a 3D printed box and cover could be made to hold everything. I wanted to keep it as simple and light as possible. If anyone makes a battery/gear box, please share. It is currently winter, and I am not worried about heat since my wing is sealed up to keep snow out. In warmer weather, I would strongly suggest airflow to the VTX and ESC. This simple plane is a great flyer and easy to put together. The hardest part is getting the gear into the wing. Here is a build video showing the foam part of construction: My 11-year-old daughter is filming, and my 3-year-old is in the background; production values are not high, but you can see how I put it together. https://youtu.be/PyFA0CJmaWk Flight video: https://youtu.be/en1OLg6gZa4 12/3/2018: Added an untested motor mount with a strap slot for an HD camera. This puts the cam on the CG but is low and far back on the wing, so the view will be partially obstructed by the wing. Please modify, share, and improve this wing. Happy flying!
