Spear head
pinshape
This spear head was originally printed for use in the Athena cosplay shown. Although it was printed in Gold, I treated it to give a more antique look as described in the post-printing instructions. A 21mm hole fits perfectly for 2cm rods. The design is split in half for ease of printing and also includes a vertical split for small printers, which may take longer to print, although I haven't tested this myself, but it should work fine. I added a half version without a hole that can be used as a decoration, similar to the shield seen in the picture, and the "diamonds" around the rim of the shield are included. Post-Printing Combine the two halves using superglue if you want. To achieve a more antique and battered look, coat the spear head with wallpaper paste and newspaper shreds and let it dry. Then, spray paint some primer like white or gray and let it dry again. Since the paper soaks up a lot of liquid, this process doesn't take long. Afterwards, carefully spray paint the rim parts and the notch between the spear and the moon parts with dark paint like black. Next, apply gold spray paint to the rest of the surface, leaving some of the dark visible to get better contours. After that, I simply placed metallic effect spray paint on the same places as well as a bit of bronze which is not necessary at all. How I Designed This This design was made using OnShape, the new cloud-based CAD project from the SolidWorks Core Team. If you want to remix the file, you can find all CAD data publicly here although it's a bit messy. The beautiful model in the picture is Mme Rouge and you can find her Facebook page here.
