To fit 6.5" round speakers in Ford's 6x8 locations, you can use a Goldwood GW-6024 6-1/2" woofer with a frequency response of 29 to 4,800 Hz. However, you may need to add tweeters or substitute a full-range speaker for better sound quality. Since the truck doesn't have door locations for tweeters, consider installing them in the upper portion of the door (defrost vent area) with a waveguide or in pods close to the a-pillar. If you decide to make accommodations for recessed, captive lock-nuts on the back side of the mount, do it only if screws loosen over time. To install the woofer, use the speaker to mark screw holes and the outside edge of the flange on the plate. Drill holes for the woofer screws and temporarily mount the plate in the door. Transfer the marks to the door's plastic and cut slots for the speaker flange using an x-acto knife. Mount the plate with original screws, wedge the speaker into the door using the slots, and secure it with screws. Enjoy your new speakers!
