Sparrows Lockpick Handles
thingiverse
As I began adding files to my original lockpick handle design, it hit me that as I'm responding and redesigning for others who ask, this might need its own special status. Still based on the original "Dragon Fang" profile, someone asked if I could knurl it like I had on my disc Detainer pick design... Flat knurling is called checkering in the gunsmith world, so I checkered a pattern on both sides for grip, but left the top and bottom smooth to aid in feedback. Originally designed to print in the upright position on a raft for good support, these picks can be printed flat if you prefer, if you do, they don't need a raft... rafts and checkering really don't get along and you'll have a heck of a time getting them off! As usual, I've included the AutoCAD DWG files for anyone wanting to play/tinker or remix. I've also added a deeper pocketed drawing and STL for people who want to bury the handle; it's the one labeled 82mm Deep, the standard one as pictured is 72mm Deep. I originally designed these for my Sparrows picks, so it occurred to me that I might as well include the Sparrows logo on them too. So I did... and to me at least it looks pretty cool, especially with dark grey Carbon Fiber material. You can use any PLA; I've printed them with multiple brands, the only one I had problems with was the multi-color changing type... that stuff doesn't adhere well to the bed and isn't very strong in my opinion. Anyway, have fun and stay safe!
