I've been having issues with my stock 50x50x10 fan too, so I came up with a plan to create an external fan mount that works well enough for now. It's just a clip-on design that should fit any 50mm x 50mm x xxmm DC fan. If you're not feeling motivated to make it 100% perfect, you can use some blue tack to seal the gap.
