Spark Plug Case

Spark Plug Case

thingiverse

This case is built for spare spark plugs on snowmobiles, offering protection and convenient storage in a glove box. It consists of three main components: a bottom plate, top cover, and enclosing plate. The plug screws directly into the enclosing plate which, when sandwiched between the top and bottom parts, securely holds the plug and prevents rattling inside the case. Print Settings ----------------- Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer Model: Simple Black Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .3mm Infill: 10% Notes: The design requires careful orientation during printing. The bottom is printed upside-down, the top is printed with its top-side down, and the enclosing plate is printed flat. Be aware of a slight taper on the prongs in the holes - print with the long end facing downwards. Post-Printing Instructions --------------------------- Insert the spark plugs into the enclosing plate. If the plate does not fit smoothly inside the top cover, carefully scrape or file its edges using an exacto knife until it fits properly. This will ensure that the plug stays securely contained within the case when it's closed. Design Development ------------------ To create this design, I used online dimensions of a standard spark plug to generate a 3D model. I then built the storage case around this model and measured actual snowmobile plugs to adjust the hole sizes so they would fit most any size spark plug. Originally, I thought about incorporating some foam in the top hole for added security against rattling; however, after deciding that separate design, I decided on a simple plate solution. If you're interested, my 123D Design file is included so that you can easily make adjustments to suit your needs.
