Those of us who use stainless steel water bottles, tumblers, coffee mugs, etc., know we'll drop them eventually. When that happens, dents are a given. I personally grew tired of the infamous tumbler-bottom-dent and decided to protect my investment by printing a sleeve for it. This idea was inspired by used tire re-use/recycling, which is why it's called Spare Tyre Tumbler Sleeve. It's sleek, low-profile, stylish, evokes a sense of wonder, summons the Yeti-Guardian-Spirit to defend your tumbler and is all-around awesome. PRINT SETTINGS: This design is intended for 3D printing in TPU with specific print settings to take advantage of its hollow structure. You may experiment, but here's what I found after a few iterations: Extruder: Use caution when using bowden-style and TPU as it can be challenging. - Temperature: around 230°C - Speed: less than 40mm/s - Nozzle size: 0.4mm - Layer height: 0.1-0.2 mm - Retraction: turn off almost always when using TPU Shell: 3-4 walls (this affects the lower portion's pliability and impact absorption) Top/bottom: around 1mm thick is recommended (thinner = less durable, thicker = too stiff to absorb impact well) INFILL: This is crucial: use 20-30% triangles, tri-hex, hex or similar. Bed adhesion: Use glass with gluestick or ultrabase, tape, etc., heated around 50-60°C and apply a skirt. CUSTOM SIZING: You can use Cura or other slicers' scaling tools to size this for nearly any cup within reasonable limits. The original design was made for average yeti or ozark trail tumblers with a base diameter of 72mm and height of 16mm. To resize, divide your cup's diameter/height by the original size to get a scale factor for each X, Y and Z directions. This may distort the lettering. Hopefully, you won't be too disappointed.
