Spar Drilling guides for RC sailboat- 11mm round
thingiverse
Print a couple of these guides to help you drill your mast and booms. They are designed for 11mm round spars, such as the ones from PG. The holes are 1.5mm. Just drill them out if you need a slightly larger hole. The top of the block has 2 holes spaced at 5mm so you can make spaced holes by drilling the first hole, then pinning the block through that hole and drilling a new hole, moving down the spar. By mounting multiple blocks to the mast, you can also help keep it aligned while adding pre-bend to the mast (such as an IOM mast) and to keep the bent mast aligned for drilling. Just move one block at a time and the others will keep the mast aligned. The second and third picture shows 3 blocks mounted on a mast. Two blocks hold the straight end against the edge and the third at the tip can be used to measure the amount of bend from that edge. The screw hole is already threaded for an M6 nylon screw, but will probably need cleaning up with a cutting tap to get a good fit. You can use a 20-25mm nylon screw. The screw head doesn’t matter much, as you will just be hand tightening it. You may have to drill or file the 11mm hole to get a good fit on your spar. It should be tight enough to not slide on its own, but should not have to be forced on either. 3 perimeters/top/bottom, 20% infill 20-25mm layer height.
