Spanner / Wrench Carrier
thingiverse
My toolbox was always a disorganized mess due to my spanner collection being scattered throughout the portable box. Finding the right spanner was a frustrating challenge every time I needed one. To solve this problem, I created a 3D printed spanner carrier that brings all of my spanners together in one convenient place. The spanner carrier is composed of two main parts: a divider section and a clasp. The divider holds each spanner securely in its own designated slot, while the clasp snaps into position over the divider to keep everything in place. When storing the spanner carrier back in the toolbox, the clasp plays a crucial role in preventing the spanners from falling out. As an added bonus, I've included a second clasp STL file that's designed for slightly larger spanners. This extra clasp is necessary because it can handle wider spanners that wouldn't fit with the standard clasp. While my design was specifically optimized for my 6-piece Stanley Metric Open Spanner set (sizes 6 to 16mm), I want to caution users about using other brands and sizes of spanners. If a spanner is too large, it can cause the divider wall to crack, rendering the carrier useless. To ensure that the spanner carrier was both solid and tough, I printed it with PETG filament at a density of 100%. This gave me a strong and reliable product that could withstand regular use. My specific print settings included using PETG 1.75mm filament, a layer height of 0.2mm on my PRUSA I3 MK3S printer, and 100% infill density to maximize the divider wall's strength. Additionally, I chose Aurarum Silver filament for its unique aesthetic appeal. I hope this print design is helpful to others who are struggling with cluttered spanner collections.
