SpaceX Dragon Capsule
thingiverse
This is a replica of the SpaceX Crew Dragon V2.0 I engineered it so that it could be easily printed in two colors using only one extruder. I have included an image outlining what each part is, and its location in the model, as well as an image showing the correct orientation for printing the white parts, and an image showing the correct orientation for printing the black parts to reduce the risk of warping or error. The only piece that should require supports is the Dragon_Capsule_Bottom where the Draco engines are installed. I printed mine in ABS and used ABS cement to assemble all of the pieces together, however if you are printing with PLA, a little bit of superglue will hold everything in place. Be sure when gluing to apply some on the pin, as well as a small amount on the faces between the parts to help prevent the pieces from twisting. Steps for Assembly: 1.) Insert and glue the Capsule_Alignment_Pin fully into the Dragon_Capsule_Mid. *Note: The alignment pins are only to keep the pieces centered. You will still need to rotate them for them to be fully aligned. 2.) Install and glue the Dragon_Capsule_Nose_Cone onto the Dragon_Capsule_Mid using the Capsule_Alignment_Pin. Make sure the high part of the circular cut on the nose cone is facing the front of the capsule as shown in the image. *Note: You should use the Draco housings on both pieces to line the nose cone up with the capsule. 3.) Install and glue the Dragon_Capsule_Draco onto the Dragon_Capsule_Mid. 4.) Insert and glue the Base_Alignment_Pin fully into the Dragon_Capsule_Draco. 5.) Install and glue the Dragon_Heat_Shield onto the Dragon_Capsule_Draco using the Base_Alignment_Pin to keep the heat shield centered on the capsule. You can refer to the image labeling the parts for additional assembly help.
