SpaceChem Pin - Nd Edition
thingiverse
This SpaceChem pin replica features internal sockets for 5mm neodymium magnets (like Buckyballs), allowing you to attach it to clothing or other surfaces without piercing the fabric. The pause required for magnet insertion presents an opportunity to switch filament colors, creating a contrasting effect. To use this design, you'll need printer firmware that supports pause-at-z functionality; Sailfish is recommended if compatible. Before inserting magnets, test for attraction to the extruder nozzle and ensure they are fully below the top layer after placement. If you don't have a pause-at-z printer, printing the bottom separately and gluing it on is an alternative option. Ensure the model is sliced with no additional shells, as narrow links require proper filling. Customizable parameters include layer height, magnet diameter, and magnet gap in the provided scad-file, which also echoes the print pause height. Three pre-configured files for 5mm Buckyballs are included: spacechem_nd_270lh.stl (0.27mm layer height), spacechem_nd_200lh.stl (0.2mm layer height), and spacechem_nd_150lh.stl (0.15mm layer height).
