Space Shuttle Tank Urn
prusaprinters
******STILL A WIP. It takes many days of printing to complete this.*******I want to start by offering a huge Thank You to Kmobrain for not only creating the original model but for sharing the step file with me so I could easily transform it into a Urn.A little bit of back story on this. I was contacted by a coworker and friend of the family. They informed me that their husband, who spent many years working for NASA, has a terminal illness and is expected to pass within a year. She explained that she found an Urn online which looked like a space shuttle but it was very expensive. She asked if I could do anything with my 3d printer and thanks to Kmobrain I absolutely am. I intend to 3d print the entire space shuttle and the base and maybe a little something extra special if I can pull it off. This remix only contains files for the parts I have added / modified. for all other parts please see the original model from KMobrain. Also, in order to large enough to hold all of the ashes I needed to scale it up. It is 2.9 times (290%) large than the original model so make sure you scale up any of their parts by that much in your slicer. The locking part of this design is not connected to the top of the tank. This is for two reasons. First it allows the top of the tank to be printed without support. Second, the top of the tank must be carefully aligned with the bottom of the tank. due to 3d printing tolerances I thought that it would be beneficial if you glued the top of the tank on the lock one you had the lock secured in place. then you could insure the correct alignment. If I make additional updates to the design I will add them here.
