Space Shuttle

Hey there! If you're into space stuff, this might be just the thing to decorate your desk. This rocket model is cleverly designed to split into two pieces that can be easily plugged back together once complete. The beauty of it all? It prints perfectly without any need for rafts or supports. Well, almost perfectly - there's a small gap between the booster rockets that measures about 12mm wide when printed at 150% scale. This might cause some issues with bridging, especially if you're printing at larger scales. However, this design also allows for multiple colors to be used in your print. The color changes are achieved using Prusa's ColorPrint function, which can be found on Prusaprinters.org. It works by stopping the printer, moving it away from the object, and waiting for you to manually change the filament - a simple yet effective way to create single-extruder multi-color prints. Now, I should note that the "hinge" or "nose" of the main fuel tank might require some additional work to get the gap between the shuttle's engines and the smoke looking as small as possible. But don't worry, it's a minor tweak that can make a big difference in the overall look of your print. This design was actually inspired by "Lift Off," created by Xonor13 (thing:2187088). However, I found that it required supports that aren't available to me, and ProEngineer couldn't modify the STL files. So, I decided to create my own version from scratch - and I'm thrilled with how it turned out. Here are the dimensions for this model when printed at 150% scale: Height: 107.5mm Width (bottom): approximately 70mm Width (main fuel tank): 12mm Booster diameter: 3.55mm Shuttle width: 24mm Engine diameter: 2.8mm Bridge gap between boosters: 12mm To ensure that the shuttle's wings don't get ripped off before they're connected to the engines and main body, I've included enlarged first-layer bases in the STL file. These have a height of 0.1mm, so be sure to set your first layer height accordingly - otherwise, your slicer might leave them out entirely. You may also want to add a brim if the engines don't stick properly to your print bed. I hope you enjoy printing this model! Constructive criticism and advice are always welcome - I'm eager to hear what you think. Happy printing! Printer Brand: Prusa Printer Model: Prusa Mk2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.15mm Infill: 10% Notes: I recommend printing this model at a scale of 150% or more, and infill levels below 10% may be sufficient. I used Hatchbox PLA with the following settings: Temperature: 195°C (extruder) Bed Temperature: 60°C
