Space Saving Pistol Rack

Simple pistol rack designed to maximize space inside your safe. Rack is customizable to fit the width of your pistol, and thus save space. To complete this project, you will need:print at least one pistol_rack_body.stl. be sure to resize this part to fit the width of your pistol. print beveled edge facing down on build plate.print at least 2 pistol_rack_divider.stl. print beveled edge facing down on build plate. divider is 1/16in thick. you might want to change it to 1/8in in your slicer to increase the rigidity. or use whatever material is handy. I used 1/8in thick hardboard in my final product. 1/4in-20 threaded rod. I recommend buying a 3ft length at Home Depot for around $2.50. This is the minimum recommended width. You need to measure the width of your pistols, and re-size the body in your slicer. This is very important. Print the parts on their side, with the beveled edge facing down. No supports are needed. Assembly:In my example, I cut a 3ft rod into three 12in pieces. You can use longer sections of rod if you wish. 12in rods should allow you to store about 8 pistols. Print the appropriate number of bodies and dividers. Sandwich the bodies and dividers together with the threaded rods and nuts. (see pictures)OPTIONAL:print pistol_rack_body_tall.stl if you prefer your pistols to sit more vertical.use furniture connecting nuts for a cleaner look. (https://www.amazon.com/Black-Oxide-Joint-Connector-Nut/dp/B00MN6EI48/) See an example in one of my pictures. you will need to mirror one of your printed bodies in the slicer, so the recess can accept the special nut. if printing dividers, use pistol_rack_divider_nut.stl for the bookends. These dividers have larger holes to accommodate the special nuts.
