Space Launch System (SLS)
cults3d
NASA engineers are developing the Space Launch System, or SLS, a powerful new rocket that will take astronauts beyond Earth's orbit into deep space. The SLS is designed to carry humans on missions to an asteroid and eventually to Mars, while opening up new opportunities for robotic scientific explorations of other planets and moons in our solar system. In 2015, NASA completed the Critical Design Review of the SLS vehicle, which marked a major milestone in the development process. Agency leaders gave their final approval for production of flight hardware, paving the way for the launch of the first SLS rocket in 2018 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. At Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, engineers and more than 800 contract companies from across 45 states are working together to deliver a new era of space exploration.
