Space efficient rail CoreXY
thingiverse
This is a coreXY printer utilizing MGN rails, carefully optimized to achieve the largest possible print area within a compact frame. The outer frame dimensions measure 290x290mm (X, Y), while the print area spans an impressive 170x170mm (X, Y). The y-axis rail features MGN9 components, with the x-axis utilizing an MGN12 model and the z-axis boasting an MGW12 setup. All carriages on this printer are of the H type. Two distinct mount styles cater to different idler dimensions: one for standard 8.7mm idlers and another for Gates-style 10mm idlers. Idlers are intended to be secured using short 5mm pins that should be pushed in from the start. A notable challenge arises when working with the XY parts, as the pins must be inserted after mounting them to the rail; this process is complicated by the fact that the idlers will obstruct the bolts holding it in place on the MGN9 carriage. This project remains a work in progress, with no definitive solution currently available for homing triggers. Additionally, certain components are likely missing at present. Update 2020-05-23: I am actively engaged in redesigning this printer using Fusion 360, and most of the motion-related parts have been completed.
