Space Blower Exerciser
thingiverse
This device was created using Tinkercad and submitted to Pinshape for their competition focused on useful items astronauts can 3D print in space. It's a human-powered blower that makes moving air comfortable, providing a workout if made full size (100 mm). To prevent muscle atrophy, try different positions or customize handles. This allows you to exercise various muscle groups, including major limbs and hands, in multiple directions. Watch a half-size model in action: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B923oYusoMRGdUVCY24zdmkzVU0/view?usp=sharing. It's also an excellent fidget target. A raft is useful on an unheated bed and requires no supports if your machine has reasonable bridging capabilities. Assembly is straightforward: tie a comfortable loop of braided string or cord to any handle you choose, then untwist the loop and 'crank' one side up by twisting the string, winding up the blower in the process. With practiced timing, tug to unwind it before it unwinds completely, stopping just in time for it to continue winding up the other direction...and so on. Enjoy!
