The SP-350 Denise, widely known as the "Diving saucer" (Soucoupe plongeante), is a compact submarine designed for two-person crews to explore depths of up to 400 meters. Jacques-Yves Cousteau and engineer Jean Mollard collaborated at France's Centre for Undersea Research to design this innovative vessel. In 1959, the SP-350 Denise was built and typically operated from Calypso, Cousteau's research ship.
