This is a highly detailed, 3D model of the Soyuz ST rocket. Textures and color maps are included, with a PSD file of the textures provided. Soyuz-ST is a three-stage carrier rocket featuring an additional restartable Fregat upper stage, which enables payloads to be lifted into higher orbits, including high circular, elliptical, sun synchronous, geotransfer, geostationary orbits and departure trajectories. The upper stage functions as a fourth stage of the rocket, but its flight control and telemetry systems operate independently from the rocket. The upper stage and spacecraft are mounted under the large ST fairing, similar to that used on the Ariane 4 launch vehicle. Soyuz-ST is designed for commercial launches, with flights contracted by Starsem and currently launched from LC-31 at Baikonur. These launches will transition to a new ELS (Ensemble de Lancement Soyouz) site being built at the Guiana Space Centre on South America's northern coast. Soyuz-ST is expected to deliver up to 3.2 tonnes to GTO from the ELS site. The first launch is anticipated for 2009. Another name for the ELS configuration is Soyuz-STK, denoting special measures taken for preparing and launching the rocket in hot and humid conditions.
