Sovereign Reaper & Support

Sovereign Reaper & Support

thingiverse

A friend asked me if I could print a Sovereign Reaper model for his son - starting with https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:877304 (by mausolfb) I made a few attempts before ending up with this version. Posting it least it's useful to others. The model is made up of a couple of pieces: * Reaper Top (literally the top half of the model), should print without support - I'd suggest keeping the infill low (~10%) to keep the weight down * Reaper Bottom (literally the bottom half of the model), will need significant support to print - I used the 'tree' support generation in Cura when I sliced it. - I'd suggest keeping the infill low (~10%) to keep the weight down * Reaper Middle Leg (no idea what this really is, but it's physically separate in the original model), should print without support - I'd suggest keeping the infill low (~10%) to keep the balance right (it's top heavy). * Reaper Pin (the pin to locate the top and bottom when attaching), should print without support - this is scaled for my printer, you may need to scale it up or down a few percent to get a good fit. I'd suggest setting the infill higher (~25%) to there's a fair amount of load on the pin in the completed model. I've also included the files (both scad & stl) for a support I created for the model, again this is in a number of parts (none of this parts should require supports when printed): * Reaper Support - main body of the support, intended to 'grab' the model a little below the cut. I'd suggest setting the infill higher (~25%) to there's a fair amount of load in the completed model. * Reaper Support Base - a truncated cone, intended to accept the support - I glued this to the base I used for the completed model - this is scaled for my printer, you may need to scale it up or down a few percent to get a good fit. I'd suggest setting the infill higher (~25%) to there's a fair amount of load in the completed model. * Reaper Support Wedge - I used two of these (glued into the 'mouth' of the support) to keep the model up right when set into the support. * Reaper leg support - I used this to raise the 'middle leg' from the base, so that it aligned with the model when in position with the support. * Reaper Name Plate - a simple name plate (the scad file uses write.scad, also available on this site).
