South Bend Lathe Threading Gears (Standard set)

South Bend Lathe Threading Gears (Standard set)

thingiverse

This is a complete collection of standard South Bend lathe gears. These are designed according to the specifications for South Bend 9A, 9B, or 9C lathes. (14.5 pitch angle; 18 degrees pressure angle; 3/8 inch thick; 1/8 inch keyway; 9/16 inch hole) Depending on how your printer prints the hole, it may require a bit of clean up with a reamer or boring bar to fit. A pdf showing standard and metric gear options is included. I created this as a handy reference chart for the shop. The standard thread choices are based on South Bend tags, while the metric ones are my own calculations. I believe they are accurate, but they have not been tested. FreeCAD design files are also included for those who want to modify them. To print a full set, two copies of the 32 tooth gear and one of each other gear are required. Obviously, compound gears should be printed with the larger gear on the bottom. For metric gears, see: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3219385 and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3219391 These three gears update and replace: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3172973 Let me know if you encounter any problems or find errors. If you have better gear selections, feel free to share them.
