South Bend Lathe Threading Gears (Metric additions)

thingiverse

This is a partial set of Metric threading gears designed for use with standard sets of threading gears or combined with partial sets of standard threading gears. These gears can be used to do metric threading by combining them with other gear sets. They are all designed to the specs. for South Bend 9A, 9B, or 9C lathes (14.5 PA; 18 DP; 3/8" thick; 1/8" key; 9/16" hole) and may require some clean up with a reamer or boring bar to fit properly. I have included a pdf showing standard and metric gear choices, which I created as a handy reference chart for the shop. The standard thread choices come from South Bend tags, while the metric ones are based on my own calculations, which I believe are correct but have not been tested yet. For a full set of metric gears, print two copies of the 40 tooth gear; if you're reusing a standard set of gears, you'll only need to print one additional copy. Print your choice of the three transposing gears - the 127:100 transposing gear may not fit on a standard banjo, so I recommend using the smallest transposing gear for accuracy. When printing compound gears, place the larger gear at the bottom. These gear sets, combined with standard and common sets referenced above, are an update to and replace previous versions (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3172973). If you encounter any problems or find errors, please let me know; I'm also open to suggestions for better gear selections to use.
