South Bend Lathe Threading Gears (Common)
thingiverse
This is a comprehensive set of threading gears designed for use with the partial metric set (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3219385) to create a complete set of metric threading gears. If you are using the partial metric set (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3219385) in conjunction with a standard set of threading gears https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3219371, then these gears are not necessary. All gears are designed to precise specifications for South Bend 9A, 9B, or 9C lathes (14.5 PA; 18 DP; 3/8" thick; 1/8" key; 9/16" hole). Depending on how your printer prints the hole, a bit of clean up with a reamer or boring bar may be needed to fit. A pdf has been included showing standard and metric gear choices. This was created as a handy reference chart for the shop. Standard thread choices come from South Bend tags, while metric ones are based on my own calculations. I believe they are correct but have not been tested. FreeCAD design files have also been included. For a full set of metric gears, two copies of the 40 tooth gear are required. The 40 tooth gear is included in both this set and the metric specific gear set https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3219385. These gears along with standard and metric sets referenced above replace an outdated version https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3172973. If you encounter any problems, find errors, or have better gear selections to use, please let me know.
