Sound Stage with distance measuring
prusaprinters

This version of the design produces a version of the transducer mount suitable for classroom use. It was adapted from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3279969 by adding a mount for an Adafruit VL6180X Time of Flight distance sensor. The VL6180x can produce distance measurements between the plates.

By pairing a Feather M0 with an OLED display, a digital display of the distance between the plates can be created. The code and a description of the wiring for the VL6180X can be found at https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-vl6180x-time-of-flight-micro-lidar-distance-sensor-breakout/overview. The mount used is at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3351049

The rest of the instruction are the same as used in the MiniLev found in Asier Marzo's instructable:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Acoustic-Levitator/

The holes are sized for 1/4 - 20 screws. The design requires two 8020 T-nuts and screws.

The transducer removal tool is a plug that will allow the transducer to be pushed back out of the mount.

The companion electronics platform can be found at:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3183438

The original bracket can be found at:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3168253

The parabolic dish version can be found at:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3279964

Print instructions

Category: Physics & Astronomy
