Sound Moderator
thingiverse
This "silencer" replica, printable on standard 3D printers, isn't as small as depicted in spy movies; it requires a size similar to a beer bottle. While it won't eradicate the noise of an airgun firing, it will muffle the sharp crack that scares off birds and irritates spouses. The device operates by allowing excess gas from the barrel to gradually expand in multiple chambers, as seen in the cutaway image. However, using it with firearms may cause melting. To use this moderator with an airgun, adjust the barrel diameter and caliber settings in the SCAD file, print it, then secure it to the barrel with a stainless-steel hose clamp. The provided STL is for a 12mm diameter barrel in .22 caliber. Remember standard firearm safety practices when positioning the moderator on the barrel's center; avoid looking down the barrel while loaded. If your 3D printer has ample headroom, activate the 4th segment in the SCAD file for enhanced design. But don't forget - it's just a sound moderator, not an actual silent weapon from spy flicks!
