Sound Moderator Mk2
thingiverse
A sound moderator, also known as a "silencer," is designed for airguns or paintball guns that produce a significant amount of noise due to rushing air. This device contains K Baffles which slow down the air, reducing the sharp sound typically made by pump-up airguns. The pellet remains unaffected and may even gain velocity. However, supersonic projectiles will still make a cracking sound, rendering silencers ineffective for firearms as they could damage them. The provided STL file is customized for a .177"/.45mm airgun with an 18mm external barrel diameter (Zoraki pistol). The SCAD file is parametric, allowing adjustment of diameters and baffle numbers. Print the silencer using quality ABS or Diamond Age Solutions' IMPLA due to pressure requirements. Avoid support material and prioritize build strength over aesthetics. Ensure the gun is unloaded and centralize the silencer upon installation with a hose clamp for stability. Although airgun and paintball gun silencers are generally legal, confirm their legality with a trusted authority before use. In New Zealand, they are permitted along with activities like moonshine production and tobacco cultivation.
