Sound-amplifying Domes

Speaking with a mask can be muffled and leads to people moving closer or removing their masks. Creating physical barriers (panels, dividers, room-in-a-room) can further muffle sound and communication, creating a feeling of isolation. Our proposal utilizes domes to modify the acoustics of an environment to enhance communication. Three design concepts are shown highlighting different situations in school environments: 1) Two people having a private conversation while maintaining social distancing.2) A way for small groups to have normal conversations during lunchtime.3) A large group discussion where people normally have to speak much louder to be heard.
