A Soul Coin from Descent into Avernus. Created in ZBrush From Wikipedia A soul coin was forged from a special type of iron known as infernal iron. They were large coins, measuring 5 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Typically, they weighed about 0.33 pounds or 150 grams. Infernal script was etched onto both sides of the coin. Each soul coin contained the soul of a single creature. The soul was tormented with despair. Consequently, any non-evil aligned creature could only carry a few coins at a time. Creatures with an evil alignment had no limit on the number of coins they could carry. A creature possessing a soul coin could utilize its innate powers. The coin allowed for draining the life force from a target creature. Another ability was telepathic communication with the soul inside the coin, which would answer questions but often provide vague responses. The soul within a soul coin could be released through casting an anti-curse spell, such as remove curse. Once freed, the coin began rusting and eventually disintegrated. If the soul had a good alignment, it was transported to its deity's realm. If the soul had an evil alignment, it was sent to the Styx and transformed into a lemure.
