Sorting Boxes

A complete assortment of storage boxes is essential when rebuilding a garage, especially when you need to store various fasteners and special tools. I designed a grid system with boxes that are equipped with small handles and recessed areas for 9 mm labels. The recess protects the label since they don't always adhere well to printed surfaces. The 1x1 box measures 52.8 mm x 52.8 mm, allowing it to fit perfectly in a 53 mm x 53 mm grid, which is referred to as a module. Files are available in various combinations up to 4x4 modules. My intention is to create custom trays for specific tools and accessories, such as rivets and a rivet gun in a 4x2 box with two layers. I also added images of a cabinet with drawers suitable for these storage boxes. Each drawer holds 100 modules, while each column of drawers can hold 1100 modules. The entire cabinet has a capacity of 4400 modules and will be filled as needed when I determine what each drawer will hold. If people are interested in drawings of the cabinet, I'll try to find the time. A small coffee donation would be greatly appreciated if you like this project. Feel free to remix it to suit your needs. I've added Solidworks files to make it easier for others to remix the design. If you prefer a different format such as step, binary or another neutral format, just let me know and I'll upload it for you. All box sizes are included in the configurations within the Solidworks file. Working on adding thicknesses to all boxes. The updated files will soon be uploaded to Thingiverse.
