<p>Welcome to the <a href="https://jugglingwithjelly.wordpress.com/galactic-british-empire/">Galactic British Empire</a></p><p>Following the encounters with the Shade starship(s?) it was determined that the Whittles were not up to the task of defending the Empire, and so USEC were commissioned to create the Sopwith.&nbsp;</p><p>Designed by a large committee of technical and military personnel, the Sopwith went into production in 17GBE. The performance of the Sopwith in all major categories has been significantly improved as a result of massive research and development investment in a jointly funded effort from the Imperial Naval Procurement Department and USEC.</p><p>It was expected that the Sopwith Class would see a programme to provide a phased replacement of the Whittle Class over the following 10 years. Initial deployments were to high value and strategically significant locations throughout the Empire. USEC also proposed an alternative in-life upgrade for the Whittle Class to enable a less aggressive roll out of the new Sopwith starfighters, the option was accepted and approved by the government.</p><p>Unfortunately commercial success did not follow as the performance of the Sopwith was seen to be inferior to other. cheaper options available on the market.</p>
