This purchase includes a detailed model of the World War I British Sopwith 7F.1 Snipe fighter aircraft along with vibrant color and high-specular maps. The model itself remains untextured to provide maximum flexibility for personalization. History records the Sopwith Snipe as a highly maneuverable single-seat WWI fighter designed by the renowned Sopwith Aviation Company. Its design aimed to replace the formidable Sopwith Camel, entering service during the war's final weeks. Although not the fastest aircraft in 1918, it proved an excellent climber and much easier to fly than its predecessor. Despite its brief wartime deployment, the Sopwith Snipe gained fame for a pivotal engagement in late October 1918 when Canadian Major William G. Barker single-handedly engaged 15 enemy aircraft, skillfully shooting down four before being forced to land behind allied lines. For this heroic act, he was awarded the Victoria Cross.
