Soprano saxophone mouthpiece with ligature
youmagine
I've never owned a soprano saxophone before, so I came up with the wild idea of printing one in sections and experimenting with drilling holes in it to see what I could create. I decided to print a small part of the top cone where the mouthpiece connects first, but I needed a mouthpiece to test my design. That's when I stumbled upon a treasure trove of information on the site sax.mpostma.nl, which has precise measurements for existing saxophones and mouthpieces that are super helpful. Using this website as a guide, I used freecad to create a mouthpiece with roughed-out chamber dimensions, then filled it in with what I think is a fair shape for a mouthpiece. If you print this, grab a thumbscrew from your local hardware store for the ligature, and then print the soprano reed from thingiverse.com/thing:46980, and you'll have a fully printed soprano saxophone mouthpiece.
