I have tried to replace the original bed of the Anet AM8 with a 300x300 one, while keeping the same structure as the original Anet AM8 (same profiles), so I only gain some printing surface in the Y axis and a bit more in the X axis (it stays at around 260mm). To get a real improvement, it is necessary to change the length of the two aluminum profiles of the Y axis (at least 160 mm to take advantage of the 300mm of the bed surface), and also increase the rods by that same length. I should also mention that if you don't change the original firmware, you won't be able to use this extra surface. The new bed is a bit tight (about 5mm on each side) but it works correctly. Using the same Y axis rods as before (8mm thick), I had to modify the mounting pieces or supports in order to mount the original DruckiMCDruck motor support, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2970681/files (motor-bracket-v1.STL file name). These are 6 mm higher than the originals from pheneeny (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2263216/files). I also had to do the same with the rod support that includes the Y axis endstop. I also had to reduce a bit the Y axis belt tensioner (only one of the pieces, the base one) while you can download the other one from the original designer DruckiMCDruck (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2970681/files) (belt-tensioner-v1 file name). I also modified the piece that holds the Y axis belt to the bed, it is a bit longer and has a passing screw with a nut to apply some pressure (without overdoing it).
