Sony X1000V Filter Clip on V2
thingiverse
In progress test print of a clip on filter for a Sony X1000V camera. It works by using the small grooves on top and below the lens to snap into place. This will work with any Sony action cameras that have those ridges. I haven't tested this yet, I'll update it when I get it printed and attached to the camera. The idea here is that you could use a hobby knife to cut out some cheap DSLR lens covers from Amazon and glue them to the front of this clip for the Sony. Filters that might be nice include UV filters, Polarized filters, ND filters, or even just Skylight filters to protect the lens. I imagine that for now you'll want to either print this very slowly or with supports to avoid warping those clips. I only have PLA available right now so I'll give it a go with that, but I'll update later with more information. UPDATE: V1 was a failure, but I've now uploaded V2, which WORKS. No idea how long it will take snapping and unsnapping, as I know PLA fatigues pretty easily, but hopefully it'll be worth the 20 cents it cost to make one. Updates to V2: The clippy parts are now shorter and farther apart, and curved to reflect the curvature of the camera. Small supporting structures were added to the sides to prevent wobble (which are actually unnecessary I think). More fillets were added to make it print while facing down with CURA, just add like 5% filled support.
