Sony Smartwatch 3 Handlebar Mount
pinshape
My usual over-engineered togetherness has given way to some more modestly engineered solutions, which may offend many people, but works for me, so I thought I'd share. You'll need a handlebar tripod mount that can hold the Go-Pro mount or a small camera, the standard 1/4 inch type. You can find them on Amazon for £2.99, or a more branded or heavy-duty version for £7.99. There's no button to press, which may be frustrating, but I run my watch in "always-on" mode, so I never use the button, and if I have to while biking, the pin sticks out enough to get a nail into it. I've updated this design with new files that incorporate feedback from cycling buddies: only one bolt now, four was too finicky and required setup off-bike; now you can leave the base attached and add the watch in seconds. The threaded end of the bolt is no longer too long and gets to the end of the channel without gripping the frame tightly, so I've trimmed it back a bit. The bolt head is now 2.5mm longer, making it easier to grip even with gloves on or in cold weather. You can mount the base either "bolt up" or "bolt down," whichever you prefer. No access to the charging hole means it's much easier to remove the watch, and if needed, walk away from the bike without interruption. No button press required for simplicity; "always-on" mode seems fine. Instructions: Determine which base you need based on what you have available. If you happen to have a spare standard quarter-inch Whitworth or UNC nut handy, print out the bolt-on base and glue the nut in place. This way, you won't risk shearing the plastic as much. If not, print out the standard screw-on base. It should be strong enough to handle most falls off the bike without causing damage to your watch; in extreme cases, the case may fail to absorb some energy, but it will prevent the watch from breaking. I've printed mine at 3 shells and 25% infill and found it more than sufficient for my needs. The new Version 2 requires only one bolt and a single printout of the top part. The Original Version 1 still exists here; if you need four bolts and one top printout, follow those instructions.
