The OEM speaker replacement for these headphones is very expensive and hard to find. This retainer is a modification that allows the use of the less expensive aftermarket Tymphany HPD-40N16PET00-32 replacement speaker. This replacement speaker can be purchased from may online retailers for around $11 USD (2023). Models that use a similar looking earcup include: Sony MDR-V600, MDR-7506, MDR-7509HD, MDR-7510, MDR-7520, MDR-CD900ST.
